Description
An intriguing and fascinating project based on the Contrabassoon, which will appear in the album both as a soloist and as part of chamber ensembles, including solos and sextets.
Some of the most influent Italian composers such as Carlo Galante, Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Matteo D’Amico, Carlo Matti, Giovanni Sollima and Massimo Coco, have contributed to this masterpiece. Other songs are written by other composers such as Ravel (La Belle Et la Bete), Braun, Hess.
The Bogeyman has been entitled after the contrabassoon composition by Carlo Galante “Cinque Bagatelle per l’Uomo Nero”, in Italian: “Five Bagatelle for the Bogeyman”. This album certainly represents the Contrabassoon with its hoarse, deep and sharp voice, whose strength is barely scraped by an intimate feeling of melancholy and indolence.
It is, therefore, an instrument that children should be afraid of, and it is what effectively happens in the gorgeous episode of Ravel’s “Ma Mère l’Oye”: the Contrabassoon plays the part of the horrendous and roaring beast, then fascinated and charmed by the Beauty.
