Officially founded with a core group of six cellists on the occasion of the festival “I Suoni delle Dolomiti 2013″, Italian Cello Consort has emerged as an international reality with the event “101 Violoncelli per Genova” in the days 29, 30 and 31 December 2015 and January 1, 2016.
Over 101 cellists and musicians from all over the world peacefully invaded the most significant historical sites in the city to give away, to the citizens and all the tourists flocked to the event, unique beauty of shared experience, rediscovery the history through the music excellence, the opportunity to be protagonists of an exceptional event. The unprecedented gathering of musicians from all over the world brought a large audience of more than 8000 people into the city of Genoa and showcased a program of 8 concerts of cello music.
Maestro Giovanni Ricciardi is the Artistic and Musical Director, graduated at Paganini Conservatory in Genoa, appreciated throughout the world as soloist, a musician with rare expressive qualities and very required teacher. He holds masterclasses and courses at Easter Chamber Music Festival in Cervo, Sazine Music Institute in Tehran, Bassano del Grappa, Music Hoch Schule Mannheim, Corsi di Alto Perfezionamento in Bertinoro. He is represented from 2015 by New York Classical Music Society. He won many international competitions and has recorded for the most qualified and prestigious classical recording companies.
Giovanni Ricciardi
was born in Genoa and took up the cello at the age of six. He studied at the Nicolo Paganini Conservatory in Genoa under Professor Nevio Zanardi where he attained the highest grades.
Has taken courses in musical interpretation and musical teaching methodology at the Accademia di Alto Perfezionamento in Padua, the Music School in Portogruaro, the Bavarian Academy of Music, and Musik Hoch Schule in Mannheim with Michael Flaksman.
Giovanni has been the recipient of many prizes amongst which are Citta di Stresa International Contest, Rovere D’oro International Contest and Citta di Genova National (Bow instruments) Contest.
He performs regularly as a soloist in concerts both in Italy and abroad performing with the Florentine Chamber Orchestra, Italian Philharmonic, Las Plamas Philharmonic (Spain), Campinas University Orchestra (Brazil) and La Paz Symphony Orchestra (Bolivia), Rasa Chamber Orchestra, Karaj. He has also performed in numerous festivals including Madrid Tchaikovsky Festival, the IBM International Festival in Brazil, Volgograd Festival, Ascoli Piceno Festival, Festival Internazionale Isola di Capraia and Flamensemble-Florence.
He performed with famous soloist like Ezio Bosso, Giovanni Sollima, Michael Flaksman, Felix Ayo, Yuri Gandelsman, Heinz Holliger, Giuseppe Ettorre, Alessandro Serra and more.
He is regularly invited to Latin America by the Dante Alghieri Society in collaboration with Entel Partner Telecom, where he gives classes at the La Paz National Musical Conservatory. He has made recordings for various recording labels including Fabbri Editori and Arcadete Gallo Philharmonia. He is also involved in charitable musical initiatives of humanitarian nature collaborating with the UN, UNICEF, ACNUR, Amnesty International and Projeto Niños de Rua. In addition to this, he has been European Artistic Consultant for the National Symphony Orchestra Foundation of La Paz in Bolivia. From 2015 is artist of New York Classical Music Society. Giovanni play a splendid cello build by Pio Montanari and Mauro Lunati, violin maker in Genoa.
Giorgio Mirto
Guitarist and composer, Giorgio Mirto graduated from the “L. Campiani” Conservatory of Mantova and took the second level degree from the Conservatory of Cuneo, performes extensively in Europe, Russia, Japan, China, Africa, U.S.A. and South America.
Has realized several recordings for Gendai Guitar (Tokyo), Moisycos Musical Editions (Tokyo), Sinfonica Editions, Guitart and, since some years, for the major label Brilliant Classics and the new label MoviMento.
One of his last CDs, “Norwegian memories”, dedicated to Mirto’s works for guitar and strings orchestra has been quoted CD of the year by American Record Guide magazine.
Awarded in several International composition competitions, his music is performed in several parts of the world and has raised the appreciation of well known musicians, actors, conductors and musicologists such as Altenberg Trio, Victor Villadangos, Maximo Diego Pujol, Eric Franceries, Attilio Piovano, Viktor Kozlov, Giulio Tampalini, Stefano Palamidessi, Dylan Fowler, Kazuhito Yamashita, Vittorio Ghielmi, Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, Augusto Vismara, Fausto Paravidino, Roberto Zibetti, Marco Tullio Giordana and so on.
He is the artistic director of Six Ways, a prestigious international guitar festival which takes place in his native town, Turin.
His music is published by Les Productions d’OZ, Ut Orpheus and Edizioni Sinfonica.
He has teached in Bari’s Conservatorio “N. Piccinni”, Brescia’s Conservatorio “L. Marenzio”, Monopoli’s Conservatorio “Nino Rota” and actually he teaches in Livorno’s Conservatorio “Mascagni”.

Luigi Pretolani
Luigi Pretolani graduated in Florence, on 1991, and improved his qualification in Munich under Reiner Ginzel’s guide.
He held more that 500 concerts, with several ensemble, all over Europe, recording radio broadcasts and three record productions.
On 1997 he started a new professional path forming The Bruno Maderna Orchestra in Forlì, taking straight away the Artistic Direction and Executive Managment as President. In few years, since its inception, the Maderna Orchestra, has been able to be appreciate as international and national group.
Since 2005 has accompained artistic profession to executive/administrative role until this prevailed over others. Luigi Pretolani collaborated with the most important Italian Musical Institutions as Ravenna Festival, Bologna Festival, Orchestra da Camera of Mantova, Cesare Venturi Management, Emilia Romagna Festival, Athestis Chorus. Currently is superintendet (commissioner) for Romagna Musica and Entroterre Festival by which he organises and manages more than 250 concerts per year with the greatest cultural promoter all over the world.
